BUILT ON TRUST

Security you can put in front of a board, a HUD reviewer, and your residents.

HousingShield watches your property without watching your residents. Here is exactly how we handle data, what leaves your building, and what we will never do. Written in plain language, for the people who ask the hard questions.

HOW WE HANDLE DATA

9 commitments we can defend in a room full of skeptics

Your footage never leaves your building

HousingShield does not record or store your video. Your cameras and your recorder stay yours, on site. We watch the live view and send alerts. The footage stays where it always was, under your control.

No facial recognition. No resident tracking.

We do not use facial recognition, and we do not identify individuals. An alert means something happened at a place and time, not who was there. We watch for activity, not for people.

Aggregate insights, not individual surveillance

Our reports show patterns by place and time: where activity concentrates, when the property is busiest, which cameras are down. They are built to help you run the property, never to profile a resident or a visitor.

Clear data handling and retention

We keep only what earns its place. Event records, and a snapshot saved with each alert kept for 90 days, longer only when you flag it as an incident. Everything else clears on schedule. You always know what is kept and for how long.

Transparent about who touches your data

When any part of the service relies on an outside provider, we name them, we document it in your Data Processing Addendum, and we hold them to strict data-handling terms. No hidden sub-processors, no surprises.

Access is controlled and isolated

Every organization's data is walled off from every other. Access is role-based, so staff see only what their role allows, and the connection between your site and our platform is secured. Your data is your data.

Fair-housing-aware by design

HousingShield is an operational tool for staff, not a screening or eligibility tool. It informs how you manage and secure the property. It never touches housing decisions, and it never makes judgments about residents.

Documented in your contract, not just our marketing

The commitments on this page are written into the agreements you sign: a Master Services Agreement, a Service Level Agreement, a Data Processing Addendum, and a Surveillance Data Handling Addendum built specifically for camera data. Governance you can hold us to.

Built by a team that does this for a living

HousingShield is a veteran-owned product of J Digital Media and Technology, a firm whose work is AI, security, and governance for organizations that answer to boards, regulators, and the public. We build for accountability because our clients live in it.

OUR HARD LINES

What we will never do

  • Use facial recognition or identify individuals.
  • Move, copy, or store your video off your recorder.
  • Sell your data, or your residents' data. Ever.
  • Make or influence housing, eligibility, or screening decisions.
  • Add an outside data provider without naming it in your agreement.
