Acceptable Use Policy
HousingShield AI, a product of J Digital Media and Technology LLC
1. Purpose and scope
This Acceptable Use Policy (the “Policy”) describes conduct that is required and conduct that is prohibited when using the HousingShield AI platform and related websites and services (the “Service”), provided by J Digital Media and Technology LLC, doing business as HousingShield AI (“HousingShield”). This Policy is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. It applies to every Customer and every Authorized User. By using the Service, you agree to follow this Policy.
2. Use the Service only for its intended purpose
The Service is intended to help an organization monitor cameras that it owns or is authorized to monitor, at its own properties, for legitimate safety and security purposes. You may use the Service only for that purpose and only in a lawful manner.
3. Prohibited uses
You may not use the Service to do, or attempt to do, any of the following:
- Break the law. Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation, including laws on surveillance, video and audio recording, wiretapping, privacy, data protection, and consumer protection.
- Monitor without authority. Connect, monitor, or access cameras or locations that the Customer does not own or does not have the legal authority to monitor.
- Invade private spaces. Monitor areas where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as the interior of private residences or units, bathrooms, locker or changing rooms, or medical or similar private spaces.
- Harass or discriminate. Use the Service to harass, stalk, intimidate, profile, or retaliate against any individual or group, or to target or treat people differently based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Customers that are housing providers are responsible for complying with fair housing and anti-discrimination laws.
- Identify individuals beyond the intended purpose. Attempt to use the Service to perform facial recognition, biometric identification, or to build profiles of identified individuals. The Service performs person and event detection only and is not designed or licensed for those purposes.
- Mishandle footage and data. Share, publish, export, or disclose evidence snapshots, event data, or other Service data in violation of law, of any individual’s privacy rights, or of the Customer’s own obligations.
- Compromise security. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or any connected system; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service; or circumvent any authentication or access control.
- Disrupt the Service. Introduce malware, overload or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure, or use automated means to access the Service in a way that harms its operation.
- Reverse engineer or copy. Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, or use the Service to build or assist a competing product.
- Misuse accounts. Share account credentials, allow unauthorized users to access the Service, or misrepresent your identity or authority.
- Resell without authorization. Resell, sublicense, or make the Service available to third parties except as expressly permitted in writing.
4. Responsibilities toward people who may be recorded
Because cameras can capture residents, employees, and visitors, the Customer is responsible for:
- Providing any notices, signage, or consents required by law for its monitoring.
- Limiting access to evidence snapshots and event data to authorized staff with a legitimate need.
- Using footage and data only for legitimate safety and security purposes, and not for harassment, discrimination, or retaliation.
5. Account security
You are responsible for safeguarding account credentials, for the activity of your Authorized Users, and for promptly notifying us of any suspected unauthorized access or security incident.
6. Monitoring and enforcement
We do not routinely monitor how Customers use the Service, but we may investigate suspected violations of this Policy. If we believe a violation has occurred, we may take action that we consider appropriate, including warning the Customer, suspending or terminating access, and, where required or appropriate, cooperating with law enforcement. We may act immediately and without notice where we believe there is a risk of harm, a legal requirement, or a threat to the Service or others.
7. Reporting violations
If you become aware of a violation of this Policy, or of misuse of the Service, please report it to support@housingshieldai.com.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date below. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
